Program Description & Objectives
A division of the Development Services Department, the Building Safety Division assists customers in understanding building safety and complying with the Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, Electrical Code, Mechanical Code, Plumbing, Gas Code, Energy Code and the Unified Development Code: Chapter 173.
Building Plan submittals are checked for code compliance before permitting, and architects/contractors or owners are notified of issues prior to construction. Field inspections are made on all construction, including additions, alterations and repairs. This ensures that the citizens of Fayetteville have a safe and sanitary environment.
The enforcement of codes affects insurance rates in Fayetteville; the health and safety of our citizens and guests; the damage to a structure when a storm or fire occurs; energy consumption; and the quality of life in Fayetteville and the surrounding area.
Our mission statement is to serve the Citizens of Fayetteville by accurately and consistently administering building regulations that protects their health, safety and welfare in the built environment.
