The City of Fayetteville operates a Material Recovery Facility (MRF). This facility is designed to process the recyclable material we collect. It is the first step in the process of incorporating materials back into the manufacturing stream so the value of these materials can be recovered and resources saved.
A baler utilizing an in-ground pit conveyor allows materials to be baled in 3 by 4 by 5-foot bales ready for recycling markets.
We are happy to show you around our MRF! Groups of all ages are welcome to come learn what happens to Fayetteville's recycling and trash. Tours of the MRF must be scheduled in advance. Please contact the Waste Reduction Coordinator to schedule.
The MRF is open 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
