Operations
Performs inventory control under general supervision to ensure that adequate supplies, materials, and equipment are kept on hand for the efficient operation of the Public Works department. Work involves responsibility for repair and maintenance of all construction equipment used in the department, obtaining accurate price quotations, ordering materials, maintaining and accounting for inventory supplies. Work also involves significant clerical record keeping responsibilities and other duties as assigned.
Graduation from high school or equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
General knowledge of water distribution system and wastewater collection system hardware and appurtances. Ability to conduct inventories and maintain accurate control over disbursement. Ability to maintain routine financial records and prepare clerical and financial reports. Ability to perform and verify financial computations in an accurate and timely manner. Legible penmanship, data entry skills and ability to operate a 10-key. Ability to establish effective working relationships with City staff and vendors. Ability to operate two-way radio, fork lift and general office equipment. Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver=s License with tanker endorsement and Grade III Water Operator=s License. (Or the ability to obtain both within 12 months.) Ability to lift parts for delivery, storage and inventory. Will be required to accept call duty on a rotating basis. Ability to interact successfully with others, including City staff and vendors and suppliers, in establishing effective working relationships. Must obtain a grade 3 water distribution license within two years of employment. Must obtain fork lift license with in one year of employment.
