Fayetteville Animal Shelter to Celebrate end of Summer by Waiving Dog Adoption Fees!
09/07/2011
The Fayetteville Animal Shelter is hosting their first ever "Dog Day of Summer" event this Saturday, September 10th, by waiving the adoption fee on all available dogs and puppies.
The Shelter will open at 10 a.m., and we plan on staying open until every dog is adopted. "Historically, this is a time of year when our intake stays high, but our adoptions slow down," says Shelter Superintendent Justime Middleton. "We want to give these dogs every chance to find a loving home", Middleton added.
All interested adopters will need to come to the Shelter on Saturday, pick out a dog and receive adoption counseling. "We encourage people to get here early because we anticipate a large turnout," stated Middleton. The Fayetteville Animal Shelter is located at 1640 S. Armstrong in Fayetteville.
Shelter staff also want to make sure that potential adopters understand that they will most likely not be able to take home their new dog the same day. A new state law requires all pets adopted from shelters to be spayed in the state to have its own veterinarian-Robb Jones. "I will be working hard to get all of the adopted dogs spayed and neutered the following week," stated Jones.
