Low Cost Spay or Neuter Program

The Shelter's Spay/Neuter Program is available for animals of low income families. To participate in the program individuals must meet the federal housing and urban development criteria for income.

Qualifying incomes are per household:

  • 1 person - $29,100
  • 2 people - $33,300
  • 3 people - $37,450
  • 4 people - $41,600
  • 5 or more people - $44,950

Because of generous donations, the cost of the spay/neuter is only $10, which helps combat animal overpopulation in our community. To be eligible for the program persons must complete a spay/neuter application and provide the shelter with proof of income.

Acceptable items to document proof of income are:

  • Last years W-2 statement
  • Income tax statement
  • Social Security statement
  • Disability reimbursement statement

A copy of your driver's license or other photo I.D. will also be made. After the income verification process is complete, qualifying individuals will be notified and a time will be scheduled for your animal to be spayed/neutered by the shelter veterinarian.

State law requires all animals be vaccinated for rabies every 12 months, if you do not have proof of current vaccinations by a licensed veterinarian, there will be an additional cost of $10.
