Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals

Description

The Housing Board of Adjustments and Appeals was created by Ordinance No. 2251 on July 6, 1976.  It was later referred to as the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals in Ordinance No. 4044.  The purpose of this board is to hear and to act upon appeals regarding decisions made by the Building Inspector/Superintendent.  The Board also hears appeals regarding construction materials to be used in new building construction and development.  In addition, the Board hears appeals regarding enforcement of the minimum housing standards for existing structures as specified in the Standard Building Codes.  Information regarding this board can also be found in the Standard Building Code.

Terms

Full Member:  staggered five-year terms, ending March 31.
Alternate Member:  one-year term, ending March 31.

Membership

The Board shall be composed of nine members as follows:

• Seven Full Members
• Two Alternate Members

Appointment

Vacancies on the Board are appointed by the governing body of the city.

Public Notification

Meetings are published by the City Clerk on the weekly meetings list which is distributed to the media representatives with press boxes in the City Clerk's office and released via the Internet.

Meeting Times

The Board does not meet on a regular basis, as the requests forwarded to this Board are infrequent. Members are telephoned a week in advance of the meeting.
