Fayetteville Arts Council

The Fayetteville Arts Council was created by Resolution 60-07 on April 3, 2007 to help define the community’s identity and sense of place, promote social interaction, bring the arts into everyday life and memorialize the past wile expressing shared values for the future.  The Fayetteville Arts Council shall develop and recommend to the City Council policies and programs that would enhance and encourage the planning, placement and maintenance of public displays of art in locations open to the public within the community and uphold other duties defined in the Bylaws, Rules and Procedures.

Membership

The Board shall be composed of nine members comprised of visual and performing artists, arts professionals and other citizens of diverse backgrounds and strong links to the Fayetteville arts and cultural community.  A minimum of four commissioners must be working artists as defined by a broad interpretation as any arts practitioner working in the arts (listed for clarity as:  architecture, dance, drama, film, video and animation, literature, music and opera, visual arts and news media), be they creative or interpretative, who either makes or endeavors to make a living from their work.

Vacancies are filled by appointment from the governing body of the City.

Public Notification

A weekly meetings list is prepared by the City Clerk’s office which is distributed to the press and posted on the City’s web site: www.accessfayetteville.org

Meeting Times

Regular meetings are held quarterly at 6:00 p.m. in Room 111 of the City Administration Building.
