Tree and Landscape Advisory Committee

The Tree and Landscape Advisory Committee was created by Ordinance No. 3699 on April 20, 1993.  On June 16, 1998, Ordinance No. 4099 was created to redefine the composition, powers and duties of the committee.  The purpose of the committee is to assist in dissemination of news and information regarding the protection, maintenance, removal, and planting of trees; to advise and consult on issues pertaining to the Tree Protection Ordinance; to determine the City’s needs in connection with trees; and to pursue the establishment of a comprehensive Fayetteville Street Tree Plan.

Terms

Staggered two-year terms, ending December 31.

Membership

The committee shall be composed of at least nine members:

• One representative of the business community
• One representative of a service organization
• One person trained in the field of forestry, landscaping, or horticulture
• One representative of an environmental group focused on tree protection
• One representative from the land development community
• One representative from the university community
• One representative of the utility industry
• Two at-large citizens 
• The Landscape Administrator shall be a nonvoting ex officio member

Appointment

Vacancies are published in local newspapers. Applications for vacant positions are filed in the City Clerk's office, with final determination made by the City Council.

A weekly meetings list is prepared by the City Clerk’s office which is distributed to the press and posted on the City’s web site: www.accessfayetteville.org

Meeting Times

 Regular meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in Room 111 in the City Administration Building.
