Business License Program

All businesses in Fayetteville must obtain a Business License  unless the business qualifies for an exemption. To find out if your business must obtain a license, please refer to the “Do I Qualify” link to the right.

Fayetteville Fire Department

Prior to approving a business license the Fayetteville Fire Marshal's office must conduct a building inspection and all fire and life safety violations must be corrected. You can request an inspection by calling 479-444-3449, or by e-mailing Captain Beeks at wbeeks@ci.fayetteville.ar.us.

The Fire Marshal's office has created an educational packet that lists the most common fire codes and the violations discovered during inspections. Please review this document and take corrective measures prior to the inspection. A list of residential fire codes applicable to apartments, condominiums and town houses that contain at least three unit can be viewed here.

Existing Business

An existing business that has already obtained a license will need to renew their business license between September 1 and October 31 of each year. All licenses may be renewed online even if you completed a paper application the first year. To begin the renewal process, please use the "Online Application" link to the right.

If you prefer to renew your business license in person, our office is located at 125 W. Mountain, and our hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The cost of renewal is $15.00. Late fees do apply for applications not renewed by October 31. Please contact the City Planning Department at 479-575-8267, if there have been substantial changes to the business description, in order to determine if a "new" license is required.
