Traffic Information

You may visit the Traffic Division during office hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office is located at 176 South Church Ave. Suite 1, Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the telephone number is (479) 587-3591. Please review carefully all information on the citation that you signed, promising to appear at the time and date specified.

PAYMENT OF FINES

The court accepts payment by cash, local check, money orders or cashier's check, Visa or Mastercard. Checks and money orders may be payable to the Fayetteville District Court and can be sent through the mail. Please include the citation number on the check. Cash payments can be made in person at the Fayetteville Police Department cashiers window located next door to the court.

TO PLEAD NOT GUILTY

If you wish to plead not guilty, you must either 1) enter your not guilty plea at the clerks window and you will be given a trial date, or 2) appear on your court date before the Judge and you will be given a trial date by the clerk.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING SCHOOL

You may be eligible to attend Defensive Driving School if you meet the following requirements:

  • You have not attended defensive driving school on a prior citation issued within 1 year of the issue date of your present citation.
  • You have no other moving violations on your driving record.
  • Your citation does not require a mandatory court appearance.

If you meet these requirements and wish to attend Defensive Driving School, you will be required to pay a court fee of $87.50. The clerk will give you dates that the school will be available for you. There will be a separate fee collected by the defensive driving school. Upon completion of the class and upon the Court receiving proof of such completion, the charge will not be entered on your driving record.

PROOF OF CORRECTION

Some violations are dismissed upon proof of correction. Other violations may require proof of correction and the payment of a $87.50 court fee.

MANDATORY APPEARANCE

If your citation requires a mandatory appearance, report to the court at 7:30 a.m. on your scheduled date.

FAILURE TO APPEAR

Failure to appear in court as you have promised will result in the following actions:

  • You will be charged with a failure to appear, which is a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine, jail or both.
  • The Court may notify the State Driver Control of your failure to appear.
