Center Street Sidewalk Improvements

Public Meeting August 23 from 5 pm to 6:30 pm

The City of Fayetteville is planning improvements to Center Street, from the alley adjacent to 17/18 E. Center to College Avenue as part of its 2012 sidewalk construction program.

Three concepts have been developed by City Staff, with input from the City Council Street Committee and business owners in the project.  They include a concept matching the existing sidewalk width and parking configuration, one utilizing "bumpouts" to provide for additional pedestrian areas on either side of Center Street, but removing some of the parking, and one that removes all of the parking on the south side in lieu of a widened sidewalk.

A public meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, August 23rd, 2012 in Room 326 of City Hall, 113 W. Mountain Street, between 5 pm and 6:30 pm.  City staff will be available to discuss the various concepts, and receive comments.  This meeting will be a drop in meeting, with no formal presentation, so the public is invited to stop by any time during the meeting hours. The concepts are also available for review on the City’s website (see links below), along with a comment form that can be filled out and returned for those that wish to comment but cannot attend the meeting.

Staff will compile the comments, and provide a report to the Street Committee on August 28th, 2012.
