
The Fayetteville Fire Department officially opened it new Fire Station 3. Nearly 100 gathered at the new station to see Fire Chief Tony Johnson cut the ribbon and tour the new energy efficient facially.

The new $1.65 million station sits on roughly 2.5 acres. It is located on the South East side of town at 1050 S. Happy Hollow Rd. It will house Ladder 3 and its 3 man crew.

Station 3 was designed with the environment in mind. "This is the greenest fire station we have, and one of the greenest buildings we have in Fayetteville," Mayor Dan Coody. Some of the energy efficient features include bio-based foam insulation, recycled rubber and counter tops and a geothermal heating and air-conditioning system.
The former Station No. 3 on Crossover Road will now house the Fayetteville Fire Marshals Division.
