Fire Prevention Bureau

Mission

To provide the City with a system to inspect structures for fire hazards. To ensure fire safety thru enforcement of codes, City ordinances, public education, and prevention activities. To investigate all suspicious fires and injuries or deaths as related to fire.

The Fayetteville Fire Prevention Bureau was formally established in June, 1977. Prior to this, inspections/investigations were performed by firefighters trained in fire investigation.

The Bureau works with local Police agencies and the Prosecutor's office to pursue the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for incendiary fires. The Bureau conducts fire investigations to determine the origin and cause, prepare reports to the responsible agency, respond to complaints and provide code enforcement.
