First Annual Fayetteville Sustainability Summit Announced

Mayor Coody announced today the first annual Fayetteville Sustainability Summit scheduled for Friday October 10, 2008 at the Fayetteville Town Center. Coody described the event as an opportunity for our residents, business leaders, and regional partners to make better informed purchasing and consumption decisions in an effort to reduce energy consumption and our impact on the environment.
Highlights of the summit agenda include:
- Senator Mark Pryor - Creating a National Energy Policy
- Dr. John W. Mogge, Jr. - Masdar: The Sustainable City of the Future
- Mayor Will Wynn, Austin, TX; Mayor Kevin Foy, Chapel Hill, NC; Mayor Dan Coody, Fayetteville, AR - Creating a High Tech Business Cluster
There will be morning and afternoon breakout sessions for attendees to learn more about local and national efforts in consumer, business, and agricultural sustainability.
The summit is fully funded by summit sponsors CH2MHill, WalMart, KNWA, WinRock International, and Procter & Gamble. The summit was coordinated with the help of the following partners: University of Arkansas, Fayetteville Economic Development Council, Fayetteville Visitors Bureau, and the City of Fayetteville.
