City Makes Improvements in Entertainment District Parking Zone

07/25/2014

The City of Fayetteville is making numerous improvements in the Entertainment District Parking Zone. The improvements include a revision of the numbered pay-by-space system from 3 digits to 4 digits, the addition of the letter "R" to numbered residential parking spaces, and the conversion of a City-owned gated lot to the numbered pay-by-space system. The numbered pay-by-space system is only used in the Entertainment District Parking Zone. The improvements are currently in progress and expected to be completed by the end of July. Below is a summary of changes:

*  Construction of the Spring Street Municipal Parking Deck will begin in August. Additional parking spaces created by the deck necessitates the change from a 3-digit number to a 4-digit number. The 4-digit number for each parking space should be used to pay for parking.

*  Permitted residential on-street parking spaces will be identified with an "R" before the numbers (R1 - R299) to indicate residential parking. The City-owned parking kiosks and the Pay-By-Phone system do not accept these numbers.

*  The City-owned parking lot on the east side of the Walton Arts Center (commonly referred to as the "East lot") will change from a gated lot to the numbered pay-by-space system. This change will eliminate labor and maintenance costs for the gate in addition to making payment for parking in the Entertainment District Parking Zone more uniform for on-street parking, City-owned or managed parking lots, and the future Spring Street Municipal Parking Deck. The Construction Management Office trailer for the deck will be sited in this lot.

*  The City-owned parking lot on the west side of the Walton Arts Center (commonly referred to as the "WAC lot") will continue to utilize a gated and timed parking system due to its use as a special event location and for current WAC event parking.

*  The City-owned lot to the south of the Walton Arts Center (commonly referred to as the "South lot") will close for public parking; the lot will be used for construction equipment staging as well as interim parking for WAC employees during the construction of the Spring Street Municipal Parking Deck.
