02/17/2009

The partnership between the City of Fayetteville, and CH2M HILL OMI was recognized among the nation’s best when The United States Conference of Mayors presented its annual Public/Private Partnership Awards last month.

The Outstanding Achievement Award was one of just five Public/Private Partnership Awards presented during the Conference’s 77th Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes the partnership between the city and company to promote sustainability at the city’s wastewater facilities and in all city operations to help make Northwest Arkansas’ "Green Valley" even greener.

"The City of Fayetteville strives to be a leader in sustainable practices, and having CH2M HILL OMI partner with us to make our corner of the Earth a little greener is immeasurable," says Mayor Lioneld Jordan.

"We appreciate the U.S. Conference of Mayors recognizing how the public and private organizations can form an excellent team to manage the city’s wastewater system efficiently and cost-effectively," adds Water and Wastewater Director, David Jurgens.

The city and CH2M HILL OMI have worked together since 1987, when the company began to provide operations and maintenance at the city’s wastewater facilities. The partnership has extended beyond the wastewater facilities to support the city’s efforts to assure sustainability is a practice around the community by cooperating with business and academia to increase awareness about sustainability in the region.
