City of Fayetteville Fleet Department top 100 in North America

09/07/2007

For the second consecutive year, the City of Fayetteville Fleet Department was named among the 100 Best Fleets in North America.  A panel of fleet experts identified key characteristics of excellent fleet operations to use as criteria for the award. According to CCG Systems, a sponsor for the award, the purposes of the award program include:
  • Identify outstanding operations for others to emulate
  • Promote pride in the industry
  • Provide recognition via press releases, awards and recognition within the larger organization and community that the winning fleets serve
  • Provide recognition within the national fleet community
  • Promote ever-increasing levels of productivity and operational effectiveness
  • Encourage more individuals to consider fleet operations as a career choice

The judges were from Laird consulting in Houston, Fleet Counselor Services in Phoenix, and the 100 Best Fleets Corp. in San Francisco.

One way the City is working to continue to increase productivity is by creating a more sustainable fleet operation through the use of alternative fuels at the new fuel farm, the addition of fuel efficient vehicles to the fleet, and participation in pilot programs such as the one for hybrid waste collection vehicles.

In addition to the Top 100 Award, David Bragg, City of Fayetteville Fleet Operations Superintendent, has been nominated as one of twenty-nine candidates for 2007 Fleet Manager of the Year.  This award is sponsored by Automotive Resources International and co-sponsored by Fleet Counselor Services.
