Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Wins National Award

Fayetteville Parks and Recreation has been selected for two awards by the Southwest region of the National Recreation and Parks Association. The Southwest region, which is comprised of the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas, awarded the following citations to Fayetteville Parks and Recreation: Lake Fayetteville for Facility Design Category I and the Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association for Organization Citation.The Facility Design Category I Award received for Lake Fayetteville recognizes one recreational facility project that displays a high degree of professional design quality and recreation usage.
The Organization Citation awarded to Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association (FNHA) is an award for organizations that meet a least one of the following criteria. FNHA met all four of the requirements of this award.
- Contributed extensive volunteer time toward providing leisure service programs or facilities
- Contributed funds
- Donated land, facilities, equipment or personnel for [permanent or temporary use of leisure service purposes
- Actively supported leisure service programs or bond proposals before governing bodies or the community as as whole
