Question

Things are going well in our neighborhood. Why should we form a neighborhood association?

Answer

Coming together with your neighbors only when controversial issues arise limits your effectiveness and the ability of residents to determine the future picture of the neighborhood. Organized neighbors send a message that everyone is working together to build their community.

Being organized, having established lines of communication and relationships within a neighborhood allows for quick response when issues do arise. One example: Knowing the neighbors and being organized helped many associations respond during the 2009 Ice Storm and check on neighbors in need.
