Urban Forestry Advisory Board Landscape Competition

Landscape Competition Announcement

April 23, 2012
Press Release

From: City of Fayetteville
 Urban Forestry Advisory Board

The City of Fayetteville Urban Forestry Advisory Board announces a competition for best examples of sustainable landscapes by presenting an award to one residential property and one commercial property. Winners will be selected from outstanding (1) Design and Aesthetics, (2) Preservation of Natural Environment, (3) Environmental Best Management Practices, and (4) Attraction to Wildlife.

The mission of the Urban Forestry Advisory Board is to promote programs and policies that support, maintain, and grow our urban forest; to increase public education; and to establish recognition programs as incentives to encourage a healthy, safe, and attractive natural environment for the City of Fayetteville.
The competition is established in accordance with the board’s mandate to encourage sustainable landscapes and develop a recognition program for entities that demonstrate examples of good urban forestry practices.

A team of horticultural and landscape architect judges will determine the winners using a point system with the four categories listed above.  Winners will receive a recognition sign to be displayed on the property.

Anyone may nominate a property.   Nomination forms and judging criteria may be found at the City of Fayetteville's Urban Forestry page.

Nomination forms due by May 15, 2012
