Urban Forestry Advisory Board Landscape Award Winners
Award winners announced
The City of Fayetteville Urban Forestry Advisory Board announces winners from its first annual Urban Forestry Advisory Board Landscape Award. One residential landscape and one commercial landscape were recognized. Cindi and Don Cope at 2769 Weston Place received the residential award, while Eco Modern Flats at 130 S. Hill Avenue received the commercial award.
Recognizing best examples of sustainable landscapes, the competition selected winners from criteria of outstanding (1) Design and Aesthetics, (2) Preservation of Natural Environment, (3) Environmental Best Management Practices, and (4) Attraction to Wildlife. A team of judges determined the winners using a rubric system with the four categories listed above. Winners receive a recognition sign to be displayed on their property.
The mission of the Urban Forestry Advisory Board is to promote programs and policies that support, maintain, and grow our urban forest; to increase public education; and to establish recognition programs as incentives to encourage a healthy, safe, and attractive natural environment for the City of Fayetteville. This competition is established in accordance with the board’s duty to encourage sustainable landscapes and develop a recognition program for entities that demonstrate examples of good urban forestry practices.
