Fayetteville Parks and Recreation invites citizens and other interested persons to a public meeting to be held at the Ozarks Electric Community Room, 3641 Wedington Dr., Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 5:30 pm.
The City of Fayetteville is currently in the process of updating the Fayetteville Alternative Transportation and Trails (FATT) Master Plan to incorporate the newly constructed trails and improve connectivity based on recent development patterns.
Fayetteville Parks and Recreation is proud to announce the 13th Annual Gulley Park Summer Concert Series. This event has grown into one of the most anticipated summer events in all of Northwest Arkansas. Bring your family out for a Thursday evening of fun at Gulley Park.
Fayetteville Parks and Recreation will begin registration for Swimming Lessons on May 4th. Forms are available online at the
Wilson Pool webpage and at the Parks and Recreation office. Swimming Lessons begin on June 9th and run in two week sessions. The cost per session is $35.
National Bike to Work Week is May 11th - 15th. The League of American
Bicyclists has been promoting and celebrating Bike to Work Week since
1956 and the participation numbers have been growing ever since. Mayor
Jordan will read a Bike to Work Week proclamation at 10:00 am on May
9th at Town Center Plaza. A bike ride on Scull Creek trail will follow
the proclamation.
Saturday, April 25, 2009 the City of Fayetteville, the Tree and Landscape Advisory Committee and the Parks and Recreation Department will be holding their annual Arbor Day Celebration. This year’s event has the theme Re-LEAF Fayetteville as our community plants the next generation of trees to replace those lost in the January ice storm.
On Saturday, April 25th from 10:00am - 5:00pm the 1st Annual Lake Fayetteville Outdoor Festival will be hosted by Fayetteville Parks & Recreation, UA Intramural/Recreational Sports, and Lewis & Clark Outfitters.
Bryce Davis Park has expanded from 9 acres to approximately 26 acres.
Fayetteville Parks and Recreation and the Artists of Northwest Arkansas are very proud to announce the 5th Annual Wilson Park Art Walk will take place on Saturday, October 11 from 9am - 2pm. This event features as many as fifty artists from all over Northwest Arkansas, who display many pieces of thier work and offer many items for sale. If you purchase the art at the park on the day of the event, a portion of the proceeds benefits Parks and Recreation.
Fayetteville Parks and Recreation is excited to host the second and final "Dive In Movie" at Wilson Park Pool on Friday, July 25. On this night, "Surfs Up" will be shown in an event that is free to the public. Gates open at 7:30, with the movie beginning at approximately 8:30. This event is made possible by a very generous donation from the Fayetteville Firefighters Association.
Fayetteville Parks and Recreation and the Fayetteville Advertising and Promotions Commission will team up to host the United States Specialty Sports Association's Youth Slow Pitch Softball World Series. The Tournament will begin Thursday, July 17 and is tentatively scheduled to conclude on Sunday, July 20. All games will be played at Lake Fayetteville Softball Complex and Gary Hampton Softball Complex.

On April 5, the City of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Parks and Recreation and the Tree and Landscape Advisory Committee will host their annual Arbor Day Celebration of Trees. Tree distribution will begin at 7:00am in front of the Fayetteville Town Center on the Downtown Fayetteville Square. More than 1,200 trees and shrubs will be given away in coordination with the opening day of the Farmer's Market.

On two different occasions, Fayetteville Parks and Recreation has been awarded by Best Recreation Program of the Year in the State of Arkansas. Earlier this year, the United States Specialty Sports Association referred to Fayetteville Parks and Recreation as the top Department in the New South Division ( the New South Division consists of Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama). However, Fayetteville Parks and Recreation may have just received their most prestigious award to date.
