Parks 10 Year Master Plan

City Council approved a $100,000 contract with Lose & Associates, Inc. of Nashville, Tennessee for preparation of a Park Master Plan on June 26, 2000. The Master Plan was developed utilizing public input by conducting a series of ten public meetings, hosting a steering committee workshop, interviewing city board and staff members, and distributing a survey to approximately 5,900 citizens.

The preliminary plan was presented to and approved by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on April 26, 2001. It was presented to City Council and the Planning Commission on July 16, 2001.

On November 26, 2001, the Planning Commission adopted guiding policies and strategies for the master park plan that will serve as a 10-year planning tool. A resolution approving the Parks and Recreation 10-Year Master Plan with guiding policies and implementation strategies was passed by City Council on February 19, 2002.
