Parks and Recreation Soccer - Come Join the Fun!
Fayetteville Parks and Recreation has an AWESOME youth soccer program. This Recreational Program emphasizes an environment that is fun for all ages and skill levels. Every child is guaranteed to play at least half of each game, while learning the basics of soccer and good sportsmanship.
Our recreational soccer program is for girls and boys ages three to seventeen. This program is part of Fayetteville Parks and Recreation’s GoodSports recreational programs where fun is emphasized! The season begins with two or three practices, followed by playing two games per week with another mid season practice or two. All players registering with Fayetteville Parks and Recreation are randomly assigned to a team based on age. Volunteer coaches are screened and trained by Parks and Recreation. Players who sign up for both the fall and spring season will remain on the same team for both seasons. In our program, the games belong to the kids and the top priority is fun and improvement.
FALL 2013/SPRING 2014 SOCCER

RAINOUT INFORMATION
We encourage all of our participants to join us at www.twitter.com/fayparksandrec or www.facebook.com/FayettevilleParksAndRecreation to get instant up-to-the-minute weather updates, along with other soccer related information. No more trying to get through on a weather hotline with 300 other parents calling at the same time! For those who still prefer phone updates: Call 443-PARK or 718-7600 ext. 1788 after 3:30pm Monday-Friday and after 8:00am Saturday-Sunday.
First Touch Participants:
Our First Touch Program is an introductory program for three and four year old children. A varitey of activities and drills are used to introduce the fundamentals of soccer. Children in First Touch will play Mondays & Saturdays, Tuesdays & Saturdays or Thursdays & Saturdays depending on the group assigned. Each session consists of 20-30 participants and is instructed by Parks and Recreation Staff. First Touch meets on field 'C South' at Lewis Soccer Complex.
U5-U12 Participants:
Practices and games are held on Saturday mornings and one night during the week. Game times are based on age group. Please note that due to the number of U5 and U6 Boys teams, they are divided into two leagues, the RED league and the BLUE league. If your team name is B-Wizards, you are in the Blue league. If your team name is listed as R-Union, your team is in the Red league.
U14-U18 Participants:
Because our oldest league plays teams from all over Northwest Arkansas, the season starts later than our younger age groups. Your coach will provide a schedule when he/she contacts you. Games are typically played one night a week and on Saturdays.
Sponsoring a Team
During the Fall 2012/Spring 2013 seasons, 150 teams and over 1600 individuals participated in the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Youth Soccer League. Soccer provides boys and girls the opportunity for physical, mental, and social growth in a positive family environment. Parks and Recreation needs your assistance with the expense of the youth soccer program. Sponsoring a team puts your company or business logo on that team's jerseys. This is a great way to advertise your business to families of Fayetteville. Last season, 25 local businesses sponsored a team, and we hope to have even more this year. For more information regarding sponsorships, please click the email link at the bottom of the page.
In addition to our local sponsors, the youth soccer program is supported by Land O Frost. For more information on the company and deals for soccer families, visit the Land O Frost website below.
Soccer Fields
First Touch and the U5-U12 leagues will play at the Lewis Soccer Complex. Be sure to download a map of the soccer fields prior to your first practice. As you may know, there are many fields at the complex, and many teams who wear the exact same type of uniforms. Sometimes, it may be difficult to find your team. Be Prepared! Know exactly where you are going by downloading a map of these fields along with your child's schedule. U14-17 Games are played at Walker Park Soccer Fields, located at 15th St and College Ave.
Coach's Manuals / Drills for Soccer Players
Every coach is provided training and is given a packet with age appropriate drills and games that are fun and develop specific soccer skills. The following links are age specific and include some of the games coaches will use in practice, but can also be played at home with your young soccer star.
