Programs and Activities
Twice a week, the YRCC sets aside time for kids only, and activities during this time include jump rope games, hula hoop games, Knock-Out, dodge ball, Wii games, & MORE! (Tue & Thurs 4:00pm - 6:00pm)
Senior Pickleball Program:
YRCC turns its gymnasium into two pickleball courts for play two days a week. While the program is targeted toward seniors, it is open to pickleball players of all ages and all skill levels. (Mon 10am-1pm & Thur 10am-12pm)
Fayetteville Youth Wrestling Club: FYWC offers the fundamentals of wrestling to youth of all ages. Youth involved get to participate in tournaments and camps.
LifeSource Food Basket:
YRCC partners with LifeSource ministries to bring to the community a hot meal and a bag of groceries to take home. The event occurs on the last Monday of each month from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. ID is necessary for registration.
Annual March Mania Bracket Challenge:
YRCC offers a free chance to win awesome prizes by completing an NCAA Basketball Tournament Bracket. The Bracket Challenge is only open to persons aged 16 & up.
Annual Easter Egg Hunt:
Each year, around the holiday, the YRCC organizes a large Easter Egg Hunt for kids! The Easter Egg Hunt offers great food, great fun, thousands of eggs, and prizes. Check back around the holiday season for the exact date of the Easter Egg Hunt.
Annual Thanksgiving Bingo Dinner:
Each November, the YRCC brings a fun and unique way to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner to the community by mixing in friendly games of Bingo! At this event, a hot meal is served and games of bingo reward winners 18 & up!
Annual Community Christmas Party:
The YRCC wraps up the end of the year with this exciting event, including a hot meal, family photos, and gifts for children of all ages!
Southeast Fayetteville Community Center Board:
This advisory board for the YRCC meets on the third Thursday of each month from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. These meetings are open to the public. Come share your ideas to make the YRCC a better place!
Fall Fundango Field Trips:
The Yvonne Richardson Community Center provides a Fall after-school field trip series for kids aged 6-12. The program involves six to seven off-site activities, such as skating, bowling, movies, trick-or-treating on the Fayetteville Square, and the Lights of the Ozarks Parade.
Fayetteville Youth Wrestling Club:
The Fayetteville Youth Wrestling Club is a non-profit organization which uses the Yvonne Richardson Community Center as their home gym for practices and duals. The group offers the fundamentals of wrestling to youth of all ages. Some fees do apply to the Fayetteville Youth Wrestling Club for equipment and other necessities.
The club meets in the offseason on Saturdays from 10am-12noon, and they meet three days a week during the season. The Fall season schedule will begin November 6, where they will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5:30pm-7pm.
Spring Break Camp:
The Yvonne Richardson Community Center designed this one-week camp to give kids a fun and active way to spend their spring break. Camp activities include on-site games, with at least one field trip to a local fun spot. The camp is one of the YRCC's free programs, but space is limited. Children must be between 6-12 years old to participate. Visit the Yvonne Richardson Community Center at 240 E. Rock Street or call 444-3461 for more information. The tentative camp dates for 2013 (based on the Fayetteville Public Schools District Calendar) are March 18-22.
The Yvonne Richardson Community Center also provides a field trip series for teen aged 13-17. This series provides one trip each month in the Fall between the months of September and December, and the series provides one trip each month in the Spring between March and May. This field trip series provides safe off-site trips and activities. However, the trips are catered specifically for the teen audience.
X-Factor Homeschool Physical Education:
The Yvonne Richardson Community Center offers a free weekly physical education class for children enrolled in home-school to ensure that they receive training in Health & Fitness as part of their studies. Classes teach the fundamentals of warm-up, physical activity, teamwork, and health education.
The class meets during the school year on Tuesday morning from 10:30am-12noon.
Kid Crops Youth Gardening:
The ARPA award-winning Kid Crops program is another free program provided through the Yvonne Richardson Community Center. The program gives children the opoportunity to learn about gardening and nutrition, while planting and harvesting their own crops with staff assistance.
Kid Crops is offered seasonally throughout the year. When in season, the program is offered on Thursday evenings from 4-5pm at the community garden on the Yvonne Richardson Community Center premises.
Summer Fun4For Kids:
The Summer Fun4Kids Camp (SF4K) is another free camp. This camp provides 8 one-week sessions of fun activity! The program is designed to impact the lives of children through a variety of activities focusing on Health & Fitness, Nutrition, Nature & Outdoors, and the Arts. Children enjoy trips like visiting the Tulsa Zoo, Devil's Den State Park, War Eagle Caverns, ice skating, movies, & more!
Children must be between the ages of 6-12 to participate in the camp. Space is limited to 50 children per week.
