Programs and Activities
Kids' Nite Afterschool Program:
Monday through Friday from 3:30-6:00 pm. Allowing youth time to work with staff and volunteers to improve educational and social enrichment followed by recreational activities. Youth will be fed a meal on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday by Promise Land Food Program and snacks on Tuesday and Thursday. Kids Nite kids also experience field trips throughout the school year as well as take part in service project initiatives. The program lasts all through the Fall and Spring Semesters.
On Mondays and Fridays from 11am-1pm, YRCC offers two courts for adults to play pickleball. YRCC invites players of all ages and all skill levels to join. Equipment is provided.
LifeSource Food Basket:
YRCC partners with LifeSource Ministries to bring to the community a hot meal and a bag of groceries to take home. The event occurs on the last Monday of each month from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. ID is necessary for registration.
Annual March Mania Bracket Challenge:
YRCC offers a free chance to win awesome prizes by completing an NCAA Basketball Tournament Bracket. The Bracket Challenge is only open to persons aged 16 & up and easy to enter.
Annual Easter Egg Hunt:
Each year, around the Easter holiday, YRCC organizes a large Easter Egg Hunt for families to experience: food provided by LifeSource Ministries, fellowship, fun, and thousands of eggs and prizes for youth. Check back around the holiday season for the exact date and location of the Easter Egg Hunt.
Annual Thanksgiving & Christmas Bingo:
Each November and December, the YRCC offers an event where adults ages 18 & up can enjoy Bingo! Several games will be played for the chance to win all sorts of prizes including: gift cards to restaurants, movie passes, toys, etc. We welcome all to join us and be merry.
Random Acts of Kindness:
The YRCC wraps up the end of the year with this newly implemented program. Acts of Kindness, a project in which Compassion Fayetteville will partner with the Yvonne Richardson Community Center (YRCC) in hopes to increase community impact. Collaborative efforts and donations will lend individuals and families a much needed helping hand during the holidays. Did we mention it is also a surprise.
Southeast Fayetteville Community Center Board:
This non-profit advisory board for the YRCC meets on the third Thursday of each month from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. These meetings are open to the public. Come share your ideas to make the YRCC a better place!
Spring & Fall Fundango Field Trips:
YRCC provides after-school field trips during the Spring and Fall semesters for youth aged 6-12. The program involves six to eight off-site activities that allow youth to engage in various activities during the school year. Field trips include a variety of trips: skating, bowling, movies, and even the Lights of the Ozarks Parade.
Fayetteville Youth Wrestling Club: The Fayetteville Youth Wrestling Club is a non-profit organization which uses the Yvonne Richardson Community Center as their home gym for practices and duals. The group offers the fundamentals of wrestling to youth of all ages. Some fees do apply to the Fayetteville Youth Wrestling Club for equipment and other necessities.
The club meets on Mondays and Fridays during the Fall and Winter Season from 5:30pm-7pm. In the off season, FYWC meets on Saturdays from 10am-12noon. Call Julian Arroyos for more information: 479-871-2787.
Spring Break Camp:
YRCC designed this one-week camp to give kids a fun and active way to spend their spring break. Camp activities include on-site games, with at least one local field trip. The camp is one of the YRCC's free programs, but space is limited. Children must be between 6-12 years old to participate. The tentative camp dates for 2015 will be based on the Fayetteville Public Schools District Calendar.
YRCC provides all sorts of opportunities for teens aged 13-17 to get involved. Call YRCC to learn about upcoming activities/events.
X-Factor Homeschool Physical Education:
The Yvonne Richardson Community Center offers a free weekly physical education class for children enrolled in home-school to ensure that they receive training in Health & Fitness as part of their studies. Classes teach the fundamentals of warm-up, physical activity, teamwork, and health education all while partnering with local organizations (i.e. Pack Rat Outdoor Center, World’s Gym, Cow Paddy Run, etc.) to enhance and expand learning opportunities. X-Factor is scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the Spring and Fall semesters.
Kid Crops Youth Gardening:
The ARPA award-winning Kid Crops program is another free program provided through the Yvonne Richardson Community Center. The program gives children the opportunity to learn about gardening and nutrition, while planting and harvesting their own crops with Parks & Recreation Horticulturists.
Kid Crops is offered seasonally throughout the year. When in season, the program is offered on Wednesday evenings from 4-5pm at the garden located on Yvonne Richardson Community Center’s premises.
Summer Fun4For Kids:
The Summer Fun4Kids Camp (SF4K) is another free camp that provides 7/8 one-week themed sessions during the months of June & July! The program is designed to impact the lives of children ages 6-12 through a variety of activities focusing on ways to educate, expose, and entertain them during the summer. Field trips range from trips to Branson, MO Whitewater Park to Tulsa, OK Skyzone Trampoline Park! Space is limited to 50 children per week. Camp registration will start May 2015.
