Trail Construction Information

The City of Fayetteville has a 9 member trails construction crew that is dedicated to building trails as part of the Transportation Division

The in-house trails construction crew has proven to be a very cost effective way to rapidly build trails in Fayetteville.  The trails construction crew works exclusively on constructing trails under the design guidance of the City's Trails Coordinator.  Since the creation of the trails construction crew in 2005, over 12 miles of multi-use trails have been build in Fayetteville.

Trail Construction Projects

Scull Creek Trail

Currently the trails crew is working on the final touches for Scull Creek Trail.  This 4.4 mile trail is the backbone of the trail system and will connect to many future trails.  Finish work includes trail lighting, fences and sign installation.  Safe crosswalks will also be installed at Sycamore and North Streets to include motion activated flashing signal lights.

Mud Creek Trail Bridge and Rehabilitation

After Scull Creek Trail is completely finished, the crew will move to Mud Creek Trail where they will connect the new bridge near Front Street and Replace approximately 500 of narrow and dilapidated trail east of Front Street with 12' wide asphalt trail.

Mud Creek Trail Extension at Old Missouri Road

One of the most requested trail projects will begin by mid to late summer at the eastern end of Mud Creek Trail at Old Missouri Road.  The trail extension project will bring the trail under the existing Old Missouri Road Bridge, then back over the top and connect to Sweetbriar Drive along the east side of Old Missouri Road.  The project will include narrowing the drive lanes on the existing road bridge.

The Trail crew will also soon be working on an extension of Shiloh Trail north to Truckers Drive in front of Sam's Club.
