The public participation process for the Walker Park Neighborhood Master Plan kicks off on Friday, September 21 at 6:00 p.m. in the Walker Park pavilion with an ice cream social and historic tribute to the neighborhood. The charrette includes a week of events that are designed to allow all stakeholders to provide input that City staff will use to craft a vision and master plan document.

The Kick-off Party will feature Ralph Nesson, Jessie Bryant and Kit Williams who all have historic and personal ties to the neighborhood and will acknowledge the significant figures depicted in the mural in Walker Park. The Hands-on Design Workshop will provide community members with an opportunity to work in groups to discuss and draw their vision for the neighborhood. An Open Design Studio will be held at the Jefferson Building September 23 to 27 where members of the public can informally view draft designs and ask the design team questions. An Open House will allow members of the public to provide feedback on draft designs, and the Work-in-Progress session will be a formal presentation of the draft Master Plan.

The approximate boundaries of the Master Plan area are Morningside Drive, Hunstville Road, South Street, School Avenue and 15th Street. Refreshments will be served at all events, and all members of the public are invited to attend.

City Plan 2025 recommended that City staff create one complete neighborhood plan each year, and the Walker Park Neighborhood was the first candidate selected by the City Council in March 2007. Further information can be found at http://cityplan2025.accessfayetteville.org.
