POLICE ANNOUNCE STEPPED UP ENFORCEMENT TO REDUCE INJURIES AND CRASHES

            The Fayetteville Police Department will begin the directed traffic enforcement on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, on N. College Avenue at the interchange with the Fulbright Expressway, which is currently under construction.  The goal of the department is to bring awareness to drivers regarding traffic collisions and hopefully reduce the number of accidents.  The officers will be The Fayetteville Police Department announced today they would begin directed traffic enforcement in an effort to reduce vehicle accidents on N. College Avenue.utilizing marked and unmarked units during the directed enforcement looking for the following violations:

  • Speeding
  • Following Too Close
  • Distracted Driving
  • Cell Phone Usage in a Construction Zone
  • Failure to Yield
  • Failure to Signal Turn or Lane Changes                                                                                                                                                               These violations have consistently been the most common contributing factors to traffic crashes in Fayetteville and nationwide.  The directed enforcement will work other areas, on different dates, and the department will keep the public notified as to where and when the enforcements will take place.

            The Fayetteville Police Department is dedicated to reducing crashes and increasing safety on Fayetteville streets.  This enforcement campaign is part of a comprehensive plan to improve transportation safety in the City of Fayetteville.
