FAYETTEVILLE POLICE PARTICIPATE IN BUCKLE UP AMERICA. EVERY TRIP EVERY TIME CAMPAIGN
Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced today that the Fayetteville Police Department will join local and national law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates all across the country for the national "Buckle Up America. Every Trip Every Time." seat belt enforcement mobilization. During the mobilization, officers will be cracking down on motorists who fail to wear their seat belts.
The Thanksgiving holiday period is one of the busiest travel times of the year, and the Fayetteville Police Department wants to remind all travelers, whether they’re traveling across the country or just across town, that one of the best ways to ensure a safe arrival is to buckle up, every trip, every time.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, during the 2010 Thanksgiving holiday (which ran from 6 p.m., Wednesday, November 24, to 5:59 a.m., Monday, November 29) 337 passenger vehicle occupants were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes nationwide, and 55 percent of those were unrestrained at the time of the crash.
The Fayetteville Police Department urges motorists to wear their seat belts at all times.
