COMPUTER FRAUD REVEALED
Today, Chief of Police Greg Tabor announced the Fayetteville Police Department arrested a Fayetteville man for his involvement in an apparent internet scam.
On September 25th, 2009, Malco Theatres contacted the Fayetteville Police Department in reference to an unknown person accessing their computer system, changing the amounts of multiple gift cards and then selling them on Craigslist, a popular online sales company. Access to the Malco Theatre database is normally limited to IT personnel and requires a password and username to gain access. Malco Theatre associates were able to obtain an IP address that had obtained unauthorized access to their system and provided that to investigators. With this information, computer forensics investigators were able to identify a suspect of the unauthorized access.
Arrested was Trenton Trama, white male, age 22 of Fayetteville. He was charged with Computer Fraud and Theft of Property.
