DRUG TASK FORCE SEIZES MARIJUANA AND METHAMPHETAMINE
On Saturday, December 13, 2008, at approximately 9:15 P.M., University of Arkansas Police Officer Paul Edwards stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Stadium Drive. The vehicle was searched and approximately four pounds of marijuana were seized. Officers arrested Brandon Oren Armstrong, white male, age 22, of 1104 Emily Drive, Fayetteville, and Christopher Lee Summers, white male, age 19, of 327 S. Center, Elkins, for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (marijuana.)
University of Arkansas police officers contacted detectives with the Fourth Judicial Drug Task Force following the arrest of Armstrong and Summers. The arrests, combined with information of drug activity at 1925 West Lawson, led to detectives securing a search warrant at that address.
On Sunday, December 14, 2008, detectives of the drug task force, assisted by the Fayetteville Police Department and Washington County Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at 1925 West Lawson. During the search of the residence, approximately 10.75 pounds of marijuana, .5 grams of methamphetamine, items of drug paraphernalia, three guns, and approximately $44,747.00 in U. S. Currency were seized.
Julie Ann Cooper, white female, age 21, and Lenny Gene Albrecht, white male, age 28, both of 1925 West Lawson, were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (marijuana), Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, and Proximity to Certain Facilities- Enhanced. The enhancement relates to the drug activity occurring within 1000 feet of a school.
The Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force is comprised of Fayetteville, Springdale, Prairie Grove, Lincoln, Farmington, West Fork, Greenland, Johnson, Elm Springs, Elkins, University of Arkansas Police Departments, the City of Goshen, and the Washington and Madison County Sheriff’s Offices.
