Police investigate fatal pedestrian accident


             Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced today the Fayetteville Police Department is investigating a pedestrian accident on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

            On Thursday, November 14, 2013, at approximately 9:49 P.M., Fayetteville Police Officers responded to Martin Luther King Boulevard near its intersection with Hanshew Road, for a report of a pedestrian accident.   Spencer Loos, age 28 of Fayetteville was travelling westbound on Martin Luther King Jr. in a 2005 Toyota Highlander when he observed Tarren Phillips, age 33 of Lincoln, standing in the Westbound Lane.  Loos swerved to avoid a collision, but was unable to avoid a collision with Phillips.  Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene.  Investigators determined through witness statements that Phillips was intoxicated at the time of the collision.  

This investigation is continuing.
