POLICE MAKE ARREST IN FATALITY HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT
Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced today that the department has arrested a local man for fatality hit and run accident.
On Sunday, December 13th, 2009 at approximately 1:15am Fayetteville Police Officers responded to the 3200 block of Mount Comfort in reference to a report of a subject being run over by a vehicle and lying in the roadway. During the investigation, information was obtained that led investigators to believe the victim, Shamika REDDEN, age 28, of Fayetteville, was already lying in the roadway before being struck by the vehicle. The driver and the vehicle were still on scene and they were found not to be at fault, nor were they impaired.
Witnesses were located and several pieces of evidence were collected that suggested another vehicle had struck the victim prior to the second. Detectives were able to use the debris located at the scene to narrow the suspect vehicle down to a 1985 to 1990 Chevrolet or GMC S-10 Blazer or pickup truck. This information was provided to patrol to search for a vehicle matching this description. On January 23, 2010, a patrol officer located a black S-10 pickup with damage to the front end and missing its grill. The driver was brought in for questioning and subsequently arrested.
Arrested was Robert E Lee EHRHARDT, white male, age 21 of Fayetteville. He has been charged with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident (Felony).
This investigation is continuing and we will provide additional information, as it is available for release.
