FAYETTEVILLE POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING
Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced today the Fayetteville Police Department is investigating a shooting at 2769 Ida Lindsey.
On Sunday, February 5, 2012, at approximately 2:42 A.M., Fayetteville police officers responded to 2769 North Ida Lindsey for a shots fired call. When officers arrived on scene they found that a white-male intruder had forced entry into an apartment through a window and once inside he was confronted by the resident who was armed with a handgun. The resident ordered the intruder to leave and he complied, but a few moments later, the intruder re-entered the apartment through the same window. The resident of the apartment then fired his weapon striking the intruder who died at the scene.
During the subsequent investigation, it was determined that the intruder lived in the same apartment complex and possibly attempted to force entry into the wrong residence.
This investigation continues and further information will be released when it is available.
