FAYETTEVILLE POLICE PARTICIPATE IN CLICK IT OR TICKET CAMPAIGN
Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced today that the Fayetteville Police Department will join local and national law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates all across the country for the 2013 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization, November 25th through December 1st. During the mobilization, officers will be cracking down on motorists who fail to wear their seat belts.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), seat belts saved almost 12,000 lives nationwide in 2011. During the 2011 Thanksgiving holiday period, 249 passenger vehicle occupants were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes nationwide. Fifty percent of those killed were not wearing seat belts.
The Fayetteville Police Department urges motorists to wear their seat belts at all times.
