LOCAL MAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced today the Fayetteville Police Department has arrested a Fayetteville man for possessing child pornography.
Fayetteville Police Department Special Investigations Unit detectives working with agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation recently identified a Fayetteville man as being involved in the possession and potential distribution of child pornography. On Wednesday, February 2, 2012, detectives served a search warrant at 2096 North Tull Avenue. During the search of the residence, numerous computers and related items were seized. Preliminary examination of the computers revealed multiple pictures and videos of children engaged in sexually explicit activity.
Arrested was MICHAEL BILLY WHITEHEAD, white male, age 25, of 2096 North Tull Avenue, Fayetteville, for ten counts of Distributing, Possessing or Viewing of Matter Depicting Sexually Explicit Conduct Involving a Child. Whitehead was arrested on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Fayetteville Police Department. At this time, there is no indication the images or videos involve local children.
The investigation is continuing.
