FAYETTEVILLE POLICE ANNOUNCE UPDATE OF BOXLEY ROBBERY INVESTIGATION.
Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced today an update to the investigation into the alleged robbery on Boxley.
On May 16, 2011 at approximately 1:42 A.M, a male reported to the Fayetteville Police Department that he had given a b/m acquaintance a ride home from a local business. He stated that after dropping off the acquaintance in the area of Boxley and Franciscan, he noticed that money was missing from his coat pocket which was lying in the seat. The victim stated that he went to confront the suspect about the money; the suspect then produced a handgun and pointed it at the victim refusing to give the money back.
Fayetteville Police detectives following up on the incident are no longer looking to identify and interview persons of interest in this case. Detectives have learned an armed robbery did not occur. This investigation is continuing.
