Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor wants to make citizens aware of a new law that restricts the use of handheld cellular phones while driving in school zones and in work zones.
The new law prohibits the use of handheld cellular phone by operators who are driving in a school zone or are passing by school buildings during hours when children are present. The law also prohibits the use of a handheld cellular phones while driving in a highway work zone when workers are present. The new restrictions were signed by Governor Beebe on February 18, 2011 and went into effect on October 1, 2011.
