New fayetteville police officers graduate police academy
Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced today that two Fayetteville police officers graduated from the Northwest Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.
On Friday, October 18, 2013, Officers Justin Thomas and Stewart Bailey graduated from the Northwest Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Elm Springs. The two began their career with the Fayetteville Police Department in June 2013 and started the academy on July 29, 2013. While at the academy, they received instruction and practical application in the areas of criminal investigation, collision investigation, firearms, non-deadly defensive tactics, officer safety techniques, traffic law, criminal law, civil liability and other legal aspects of law enforcement, first aid, crime prevention, crisis intervention, and cultural diversity. After graduation, they will receive an additional week of training on Radar and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing before they begin an eighteen week Field Training Program.
One officer received an award based on his academic performance while at the academy. Justin Thomas placed first in academics.
The Fayetteville Police Department wants to congratulate these officers on their graduation and to wish them well in the next phase of their training.
