Fayetteville police investigate homicide


            Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced today the Fayetteville Police Department is investigating a homicide of a local man.

            On Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at approximately 10:41 A.M., Fayetteville Police responded to 6316 W. Copper Ridge Lane for a report of a deceased subject.   When officers arrived, they discovered the victim, Michael Gover, age 30 of West Fork, deceased inside the residence.

            Through the course of the investigation, it was discovered that after a night of drinking at local businesses, Gover and the suspect had returned to the residence on Copper Ridge where they had gotten into a physical altercation.   The suspect punched Gover multiple times causing Gover to collapse onto the floor.   The suspect went to bed and awoke to find Gover deceased on the floor. 

             Fayetteville Police detectives arrested Joshua MELTON, white-male, age 30 of Fayetteville, for one count of Murder 2nd Degree.
