POLICE ANNOUNCE STEPPED UP ENFORCEMENT TO REDUCE INJURIES AND CRASHES
05/10/2011
The Fayetteville Police Department announced today they would begin directed traffic enforcement in an effort to reduce vehicle accidents on Crossover Road (Hwy 265).
The Fayetteville Police Department will begin the directed traffic enforcement on Wednesday May 11th, 2011, between Lovers Lane and Par Court. The goal of the department is to bring awareness to drivers regarding traffic collisions and hopefully reduce the number of accidents on Crossover Road. The officers will be utilizing marked and unmarked units during the directed enforcement looking for the following violations:
- Following too close
- Improper use of center lane
- Failure to yield
- Failure to signal turn or lane changes
- Improper right turn
- Disobeying traffic signals
These violations have consistently been the most common contributing factors to traffic crashes in Fayetteville and nationwide. The directed enforcement will work other areas, on different dates, and keep the public notified as to where and when the enforcements will take place.
The Fayetteville Police Department is dedicated to reducing crashes and increasing safety on Fayetteville streets. This enforcement campaign is part of a comprehensive plan to improve transportation safety in the City of Fayetteville.
