Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced today that the Fayetteville Police Department is investigating an attempted robbery at the Arkansas Gold and Silver Exchange at 1722 N. College Avenue.
On June 21, 2011, at approximately 4:24 P.M., Fayetteville Police Officers responded to the Arkansas Gold and Silver Exchange at 1722 N. College Avenue for a report of a shooting and a stabbing. When officers arrived, they learned an attempted robbery had occurred at the business. Nathan Harold CHISM, white male, age 32, entered the business with the intention of robbing it. During the robbery attempt, CHISM stabbed employee Christopher Leach, white male, age 26, in the arm. Leach, who was armed with a handgun, shot CHISM in the torso. Both Leach and CHISM were transported to WRMC by CEMS for treatment. Leach was treated and released but CHISM remains hospitalized and is listed in stable condition.
This investigation is continuing and we will provide additional information as it becomes available for release.
