College Avenue
College Avenue Lane Closures
Traffic delays are expected from periodic lane closures. When possible, motorists should choose an alternate route. When driving through construction areas when city crews are present, motorists are encouraged to drive slow and use caution to avoid accidents and injury.
The City recognizes the inconvenience this project may create for motorists and property owners and requests patience and understanding from our citizens as our crews work to complete an important road project that will improve the safety of travel on College Avenue and help spur economic development and revitalization in the area.
Project Description
The College Avenue project is part of the Street Bond Program passed by the voters in the 2006 sales tax bond election. The improvement area stretches from Rock Street to Maple Street and consists of removing and replacing all of the curbs and sidewalks adjacent to the College Avenue and adding street trees, lighting, traffic light upgrades/replacement, access improvements, and a complete overlay. The project will not change the total number of lanes, and the road will be widened in many areas to provide an increased driving surface. The radius of some intersections will also increase allowing for easier turns.
Work will be performed by the City Transportation Department under the direction of the Engineering Division. The project was designed by McClelland Consulting Engineers.
