Recycling is extremely important to our economy. According to a recent report prepared for the National Recycling Coalition by R.W. Beck, Inc., recycling and reuse companies employ 1.1 million people, generate an annual payroll of $37 billion, and gross $236 billion in annual revenues. These numbers reflect just how important recycling is to our economy.
In order to make recycling cost effective, everyone must help close the loop by buying products made from recycled materials. Contrary to popular belief, many recycled products are comparable in price to virgin products. The customer must take the time to look for and purchase these products if recycling is to remain viable.
