Facility Hours and Directions

Operating Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 am to 3 pm.

Facility is also opened on Saturdays from 8am to noon using the following schedule:
November through March site open the first Saturday of each month excluding Holidays.
April through October site open the first two Saturday's of each month excluding Holidays.

Schedule change- Due to the Indepenence Day Holiday and City employees taking a furlough day, the Compost Site will be closed Saturday, July 2nd and Saturday, July 10th, 2010.  The site will be open on Saturday, July 17th, 2010 from 8 am to noon.

The Facility is located at 1708 S. Armstrong Ave. in southeast Fayetteville.  From 15th St. and School Ave. travel east on 15th St. and turn right (south) onto Armstrong Ave.  go past the Animal Shelter and entrace will be on the left.  Go to the big building with the Compost sign on it.  From Crossover and Hwy 16, turn right onto Hwy 16 (west) and follow Hwy 16 through the next light and to the light at Armstrong Ave.  Turn left and follow the same directions as above once your on Armstrong Ave.

Compost and Mulch Prices and Descriptions

Compost - $20 per scoop (1 scoop equals approximately 1 1/2 cubic yards)

Compost (decomposed leaves, grass and small brush) is available for purchase throughout the year while supplies last during normal operating hours at the compost facility. Please call 575-8398 to see if compost is available. The City uses natural composting techniques by monitoring temperature and moisture content. With newer equipment and good rainfall, natural composting can be completed in approximately four to six months.  The material is usually screened before selling to the public to remove large items.

Please call ahead to check availability of Compost.  Compost is not available at all times.

Mulch - $10 per scoop (1 scoop equals approximately 1 1/2 cubic yards)

Mulch (ground up trees and limbs) is available throughout the year and is very benefical as a weed blocker and aids with moisture retention. Mulch is commonly used in landscaping projects.

Rates for Yardwaste Dropped Off at Compost Facility

City of Fayetteville residents are able to drop yardwaste at no charge during normal operating hours at the Compost Facility.

The rates for commercial businesses and non residents to drop yardwaste only is as follows:

Compact pick-up trucks $ 5.00
Full size pick-up trucks $ 8.00
Trailers up to 14-feet long $10.00
Trailers grater than 14 feet $15.00
