Recycle Center - Material Recovery Facility (MRF)

The City of Fayetteville operates a Material Recovery Facility (MRF), located at 1560 S. Happy Hollow Road, for processing recyclable materials. This facility is designed to process recyclable material and provides the first step in the process of incorporating materials back into the manufacturing stream so the value of these materials can be recovered and resources saved. A baler utilizing a in-ground pit conveyor allows materials to be baled in 3 x 4 x 5 foot bales ready for recycling markets. The MRF is open 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Located just off 15th St., a 24 hour free drop-off recycling collection center accepts the same items that are collected curbside. This collection point is a convenient service to residents and provides an opportunity to recycle as much as possible. Items collected both through our residential curbside collections and the 24 Hour Community Drop-off center consists of: clear, brown and green glass; aluminum cans; steel and tin cans; #1 plastic bottles; #2 plastic bottles; magazines; junk mail; cardboard; paperboard and newspaper.

In 2008, the City sold 5,901 tons of recyclables (including scrap metal) and diverted them from the waste stream thereby helping to preserve our natural resources.

The Solid Waste and Recycling Division urges you to purchase items made from recycled material. Doing so will provide good markets for the items that are collected through our facility.

The City asks that residents utilizing this drop off facility only dispose of the materials listed as recyclable. Please do not leave hazardous materials, trash, furniture, building materials, and appliances at the drop off location.
