City Compost Site Update
03/18/2009
City Compost site open but limited to 5 cubic yards only
Debris removal contractors have begun the second cleanup pass through Fayetteville starting Tuesday, March 17, 2009. They will follow the same route used to complete the first pass, and will work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. A debris progress map and a schedule of debris removal by address list can be found at the Ice Storm Clean Up Link at www.accessfayetteville.org.
City residents may self-haul brush and debris (in loads smaller than 5 cubic yards only) to the Solid Waste and Recycling Division at 1708 S. Armstrong Ave. Per City Ordinance, all verified City residents who self-haul brush will be allowed to dump for free. Please bring a copy of a recent water bill to verify residency. Loads from residents that are larger than 5 cubic yards cannot be accepted. The site is open and accepting brush only, everyday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. through Sunday, March 22nd. Beginning on Monday, March 23rd, the site will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 am until 5 pm. Use the entrance off Armstrong Ave. Stumps cannot be accepted at the Solid Waste and Recycling Division and must be left at the curb or next to the right of way. Private contractors are not allowed to haul to the Solid Waste and Recycling Division; private contractors are responsible to properly and legally dispose of any brush and debris they remove from any site. All residents and private contractors working for residents are encouraged to set their brush and debris in a manageable pile at the curb or next to the right of way (clear of mailboxes, gas meters, water meters, fire hydrants, and other similar items) so the City’s contractor may pick up the debris.
Due to the need to focus on grinding operations, there will be no distribution of compost or mulch to the public during this time. Distribution of compost and mulch will resume at a later date. There will be no pull-offs of loads as customers will be responsible for unloading their own vehicles and trailers.
