Solid Waste and Recycling Announces May Schedule

May schedule for Solid Waste and Recycling Events
The Solid Waste and Recycling Division is announcing the schedule for the month of May regarding Solid Waste and Recycling programs including changes in the Compost Facility hours of operation, the final Spring Bulky Waste Clean up, and the Memorial Day Holiday.Bulk Pick up of Brush Curbside As the City will have completed its FEMA reimbursed ice storm debris pickup, beginning May 11th, the city will resume normal curbside pick up of brush scheduled through the Solid Waste and Recycling office. Each single family home is eligible for 1 free bulky waste pick up per year. Additional bulky waste pick ups are $45. Brush is limited to 3 normal pick up size loads and must be placed within 6 feet of curbside with 3 foot clearance all around. Limbs can be up to 12 feet in length and no larger than 6 inches in diameter. Material must have a 20 foot overhead clearance from powerlines and other obstructions, and clear of mailboxes, gas meters, water meters, fire hydrants, etc.
Compost Facility Hours The City’s Compost Facility at 1708 S. Armstrong Ave. will resume normal operating hours beginning on Tuesday May 5th. Normal operating hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the first two Saturdays of each month from 8 a.m. to noon. Residents of Fayetteville are allowed to bring brush, leaves or grass to the site during these hours but need to bring a recent water bill for proof of residency. Commercial landscapers and contractors will be allowed to resume use of the site and normal fees apply. Mulch will be made available during these hours as supplies are available for no charge.
Compost Distribution Compost is sold out for spring.
Bulky Waste Clean Ups The final Spring Bulky Waste clean up will be held on Saturday, May 2nd for disposal and recycling of large bulky items. The locations for the Ward 2 Bulky waste clean up will be at Woodland Jr. High School (7 E. Poplar St. in the front parking lot) and the Church of Christ (310 W. Center St.).
Memorial Day Holiday- All Solid Waste and recycling routes will run on the normal schedule. The routes for Monday, May 25, Memorial Day, will not be affected by the holiday. The Solid Waste and Recycling office will be closed for the Holiday on Monday, May 25th.
