Mulch is made from trees collected through the composting program
The City of Fayetteville’s Solid Waste and Recycling Division would like to announce the distribution of free mulch to the public. Due to the excess supply of mulch, which resulted from Tropical Storm Ike, the City will allow the public to receive the mulch, at no charge, during normal operating hours at the City’s Compost Facility located at 1708 S. Armstrong Ave. in southeast Fayetteville. The mulch will be given away until supplies are exhausted. Facility hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am to 3 pm and the first Saturday of each month from 8 am until noon.
Mulch is made from ground up trees and is great for weed suppression and moisture retention around plants. The mulch is made from trees collected through the City’s Yardwaste program and trees dropped off at the Composting site.
