Important information for the month of June regarding Solid Waste services
The Solid Waste and Recycling Division is announcing the schedule for the month of June regarding Solid Waste and Recycling programs including Bulk pick up rules, Compost Facility hours of operation, mulch distribution and Recycling Drop Off information.Bulk Pick up of Brush Curbside As a reminder, the City has completed its FEMA reimbursed ice storm debris pickup and has resumed normal curbside pick up of brush scheduled through the Solid Waste and Recycling office. Each single family home is eligible for 1 free bulky waste pick up per year. Additional bulky waste pick ups are $45. Brush is limited to 3 normal pick up size loads and must be placed within 6 feet of curbside with 3 foot clearance all around. Limbs can be up to 12 feet in length and no larger than 6 inches in diameter. Material must have a 20 foot overhead clearance from powerlines and other vertical obstructions, and clear of mailboxes, gas meters, water meters, fire hydrants, etc.
Compost Facility Hours The City’s Compost Facility at 1708 S. Armstrong Ave. has resumed normal operating hours. Normal operating hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the first two Saturdays of each month from 8 a.m. to noon. Residents of Fayetteville are allowed to bring brush, leaves or grass to the site during these hours but need to bring a recent water bill for proof of residency. Commercial landscapers and contractors are allowed to use the site and normal fees apply.
Mulch Distribution Mulch will be made available during normal operating hours while supplies last. The fee for mulch is $10 per scoop and is available to anyone who would want some.
Compost Distribution Compost is sold out for spring. We are making more for distribution later this year.
Recycling Drop Off on S. Happy Hollow The Solid Waste and Recycling Division has completed landscaping to the recycling drop off center located just off 15th St. on S. Happy Hollow. The site is open 24 hours a day / 7 days a week to provide convenient recycling options. Volunteer groups are being sought to help man the site on Saturdays to clean and provide education to those wishing to recycle. Interested groups should contact Brian Pugh at 718-7685 for more information
